Tue, February 22, 2005 - 12:06 AMis taht healthy though? Like does that stretch the pores and make them bigger? What are black heads anyway? What's IN there? -

Re: black heads
Tue, February 22, 2005 - 12:07 AMCan you get rid of blackheads or are they there to stay? -
-
Re: black heads
Tue, February 22, 2005 - 3:11 AMYou can get rid of them I believe. I love the biore strips too..also their warming black head scrub and you can't go wrong with a mint julep mask :) -

Re: black heads
Tue, February 22, 2005 - 9:10 AMI have had Microdermabrasion and that works the best. I think there are some over the counter brands now other wise it is arounf $150 a pop if u go to a profeshanal. -

Re: black heads
Tue, February 22, 2005 - 1:23 PMI use that Loreal Microdermabration kit it works ok not as good as a professional but it clears out tha gunk in those pores. A blackhead is just dirt that surfaces it looks black I guess cause of the air...wow I should be more confident in this area as a cosmetologist but faces are not my specialty. (I think someone asked "what are blackheads") -

Re: black heads
Tue, February 22, 2005 - 9:13 PMMicro dermo wha?
I'm way too young for something that scary sounding. I just want to remove/find out info for simple blackheads. -
-
Re: black heads
Wed, February 23, 2005 - 11:45 AMIt is like a scrub but better. I use the kit 2 times a week for 2 mins. It works like a sloughing cream. It cleans off the gunk, and my pores are flawless now. Blackheads, ect. I am only 31 so I am I guess youngish so I dunno how old you are but I thought it was scary too but I get facials alot preventative measures, and she did a micro derm, and it was awsome but I got this kit and it works not as strong as professional but it does clean out gunk. It is very simple, but I also use a clay based mask, and occasionally I used the strips before. I dunno it helped me??? -

a clay-based mask is an excellent idea after a facial steam.

Re: black heads
Wed, February 23, 2005 - 2:53 PMI was 21 the first time I had microdermabrasion. It is not that scary. It is a deep deep exfoliation with a suction. It is like having your skin vacumed. My skin was so clear after and you glow. This is what all the the movie stars do weekly to get their perfect skin. It is no like geting botox or anything like that.

Re: black heads
Sat, March 5, 2005 - 12:11 PMWhich brand dremabrasion kit are you using? (I'm also 31, so I'm going with whatever works for you!) -
-
Re: black heads
Sat, March 5, 2005 - 7:26 PMHigh percentage glycolic peels always beat out microdermabrasion because they go deeper...for us po gals slightly diluted hydrogen peroxide will expel and bleach blackheads but only use it on the nose. -

Re: black heads
Mon, March 7, 2005 - 2:31 PMI use the Loreal Microdermabration kit, it has a miosturizer with it it can be abit heavy but I only use a small amount. -
-
Re: black heads
Mon, March 28, 2005 - 8:50 PMagreed on the small amount. I have a dermabration machine and I use very little of the 'stuff' they give you. I saw massive improvments in my skin. I am a spinster at the ate of 33. I a not sure if this is the best advice but this is my routine
I use proactive, its the only thing that clears my skin, day and night and then 3 times a week i use the dermabration kit and twice a week i use a mask. It seems like allot of of work but really once you get into a routine its not and it gets all that dirt clogged out of my pores that cause black heads. -

Re: black heads
Tue, March 29, 2005 - 6:21 AMI've found that the best way to get rid of black heads is to use a beta hydroxy solution every day. You can check www.cosmeticscop.com for products. -

Re: black heads
Thu, April 21, 2005 - 9:58 AMSo I've come to the realization that my pores aren't filled with black heads, they are just all opened up all the sudden. I take it this is an age thing? -
-
Re: black heads
Thu, April 21, 2005 - 11:06 AMIt's an age thing but weight gains and subsequent loss can cause larger pores too, usually it's a trade off for oily skin which does not wrinkle as easy due to a high oil production. There are a few new laser procedures being tested that may permanently alter the apperance of pores but they are still being tested. I do know that if I get extra sleep and eat a diet with mostly fruits and veggies they look smaller. Most heavy drinkers have SCARY pores as they get older.
BTW: The H. peroxide I advised using should be used on the chin with caution because it can get in the way of healing acne or scars. -

Thu, April 21, 2005 - 2:56 PMyep just lost some weight. *sigh*
Alcohol not really an issue I didn't drink until I was 29 and I stopped heavily drinking shortly thereafter. Nasty habit. -

Re: black heads
Thu, April 21, 2005 - 8:26 PMShu Umera's Nobara foundation will erase them to the naked eye. Call a Nordstoms or Saks and ask how many years the person behind the counter has been there or if they are a prof. artist. This one makeup when applied and buffed correctly is unrivaled. It's the only makeup line created by a legendary Hollywood makeup artist who worked during the studio era...Nobara was created for Liz in Cleopatra. -

Re: black heads
Sun, April 24, 2005 - 11:42 PMi've loved the shu uemera foundation i was using, but it was frustrating dealing with their counter at nordstrom in s.f.
the makeup artists and salespeople who know the line seem to have limited hours, and are never there when i am. also, it seemed that every other time i went in to buy my foundation, they were out of my color, and seemed to be the only place in the bay area that carried the line.
i would definitely call ahead before visiting their counter.

Re: black heads
Fri, April 22, 2005 - 11:42 AMI love the proactiv stuff. It is the only thing that seems to be working. I have extremely sensitive skin. Just about anything I use is way too harsh. I break out if I think about too hard. -

Re: black heads
Wed, January 4, 2006 - 1:21 PMWhat about "white heads"...the waxy shiat that builds up in your pores??? How do you get rid of that??? It's endless? -
-
Re: black heads
Wed, January 4, 2006 - 5:11 PMI believe the waxy shit is the stuff that makes up the black heads - I think white heads are zits...like red pimples with white ooze...the built up stuff is from black heads.
I use Philosphy's microderm abrasion kit. IT IS THE BEST!! You can get a sample at Sephora - it's so awesome. My skin is so nice when I am done using it. I am addicted. -

Re: black heads
Wed, January 4, 2006 - 5:38 PMNo, the stuff I'm talking about is not the whiteheads of a pimple that you want to squeeze. I'm talking about when you squeeze your nose and all those white waxy squiggly things come out....are those considered "black heads" even though they are technically white? -

Re: black heads
Wed, January 4, 2006 - 7:18 PMi read in the beauty bible that Blackheads are what peeps with oily skin get, and white heads are what peeps with dry skin get... i get these a LOT! i have really dry skin... -
-
Re: black heads
Thu, January 5, 2006 - 9:04 AMI have both with oily skin. The black heads keep to my areas with larger pores. -

Re: black heads
Tue, February 28, 2006 - 11:03 AMI know this post is bit old but thought I'd chime in here. If you think it's not black heads and instead it's enlarged pores then black heads may not be far behind. Drink a lot of water and exfoliate. My favorite face scrub right now is by Benefit called "honey...snap out of it." It's thick and feels decadent when you are smoothing it over your face. Ahhhh...Smells good too!
I also go for oxygen facials that are supposed help with dehydrated skin. -
